No need AAM, we have GEMs :)

Last Friday, like any other usual fridays, as I reached Jackie’s house, waiting for CG to start and the cell members to arrive, suddenly I got a call from Lay Guan, “sister, I got an emergency.....'

‘Insensitively’, I said ‘Errr, ok, so, you not coming is it?” No, in fact, I was actually being over-sensitive, thinking it may not be nice or convenient to ask him there and then, knowing that he was already on his way there, and then the sudden change of mind. Then, with some hesitation, finally he uttered these words “Errr, my tyre punctured while making a U-turn in the dark, can you….get a cg member – GUY who knows how to change tyre to come and help me pls? So sorry to interrupt the meeting”. He ran out of battery on his handphone and was using someone’s phone to call, I told him ‘Ok, trust me, wait there, I’ll get someone to go”.

The theme of the week’s cg was ‘Making a difference’. I thought it would be such a good practical lesson and application for that. So, I rallied and mobilized the whole cg to go & join in the RESCUE :) I thought we should be understanding too as Jackie was really sick that night, down with high fever and flu, so I left her at home to rest and not over-burden her (*she was such a dear, she was going to sleep in the living hall while looking out for late comers to open the gate & door for them*)

So, off we went……

We got hold of Kenny over the phone as he was on his way to cg. We asked him to make a de-tour to go help 1st. He found LayGuan and went to the dark spot where the car was found. Not long after that, we made our way there, LayGuan couldn’t believed his eyes and his ears that we were ALL there.

It was powerful and I know that action speaks so much louder than words can say about how much we care.

When the CG members got there, some were holding up the torchlight in the dark, then putting on hazard sign, a few were taking turn to try unscrew the nuts (it was really really hard!), changing the tyre and tightening the nuts back, and of course, one was busy snapping photos (that’s me, I want to capture that important moment) etc….

It wasn’t easy, with our limited knowledge of the practicality of changing a tyre (hahahhaa…..rely too much on AAM) and the really tight nuts, but with much encouragement and cheer, we finally managed to change the tyre….. phhheewwww…….then, we rewarded ourselves with a treat to the nearby Pizza-Uno for dinner and the remaining cell time :)

We had food (thanks Nic for blessing us out of your pay rise :))….had good laughter and sharing…. It was a relaxed and warmth night :)

Towards the end, we shared on what we learnt. Many agreed that it was a blessed night of putting into practice how a cell group can be there when one needed help. It applies to ALL situations, from changing tyre, to supporting each other in prayers when we go through challenges in life, to being there for one another in our ups and downs in life....

I’m sure all of us were blessed by this experience, my prayer is that,
GEMs, that will be what we seek to do everyday, to make a difference in the lives of others around us.

Once again, GEMs, you’ve made me proud :) and had blessed my heart so much!!! Keep it up!
