People change every now and then, some for better, some for worse. Some changes are temporary, originated from an ulterior motive to please others (maybe?) or just merely a form of self denial, it resumes back to the original state after a while.
Some changes are permanent. And if it’s for the better, I deem it as real transformation, genuinely come from the heart; it is lasting and meaningful.
I’ve been in my current workplace for about 6 months now, started off being ‘loud’ and ‘funny’ so as to blend in to the group better and to encourage more cheerful disposition amongst my gloomy and serious colleagues (*we are all accountants you see*). My attempt was quite successful, the atmosphere changed and I sincerely enjoyed the time having fun and laughter with my colleagues especially during our lunch breaks. However, I’ve recently made some changes to my ‘behaviour’ at work, not my attitude towards delivering of my work but the way I carry myself and interact with others….
My colleagues find it hard to believe and accept. I can see that they are struggling to accept that I changed and I did it overnight! (*not literally, but over a weekend*)… to those who are still wondering why and those who are still asking me what had impacted me so greatly…..here is the answer :)
After some reflection, I figured that to build genuine friendships does not come from attracting unnecessary attention by making lousy and lame remarks (*self praise*); but sincere exchange of heart-to-heart talk and sharing. And so, I changed!
I recently learnt this from my SD group (i.e. Spiritual Discipline Group from church where a group of 6 of us meet fortnightly to encourage each other to grow in our walk with God) - “Guide to Renewed Thinking”, i.e. ABCD Principle
A – Activating Event
B – Belief System
C – Consequential Feeling
D – Decisive Behaviour/ Action
where a renewed thinking/ change of belief system is core to changing the behaviour of a person.
I believe it is very powerful and true. All I did was to change my belief system, and now my behaviour changed! It goes to show that if we genuinely and decisively want to change for the better, we CAN - we just got to change our mindset/ belief system. And that is why I believe with all my heart that when God touches us, we can change instantly and permanently! This is ‘food for thought’ for those who are struggle in changing :)
Anyway, maybe this sounds a bit serious here…hahaha….to my dear colleagues (Sei Hwee, Deborah, Mages, Ee Leeng), I want to say that I truly enjoy the friendship I have with each one of you. We’ve been through different experiences together and all these are so precious to me and I hold them dear to my heart (*sincerely*)….
Sei Hwee, our GP8 ‘war-time’ and how we conquered them together, and the few times where we shared about life till we cried at our little ‘kingdom’/'territory'….you are truly a strong woman whom I have much to learn from….hope there are much more to come ya :) it's so amazing that we have so much in common :)….and ya....please stop making me FAT!
Deborah, our unforgettable trip to Melaka & Seremban, don’t think I will ever experience that with anyone else in my entire life…. You’re truly a very lovely girl….. and I like our sharing time of our faith journey, need any encouragement or a listening ear, I’m here, anytime ya…. oh ya, and you can be true to me at all time, I don’t judge and I love you the same sister :)
Mages, we’ve been through ups and downs together from audit till now ya… now that we’ve both come out ‘higher’….I hope that we will continue to spur one another on la…. Life here wouldn’t be the same without you paving the way for me :) and I know that you’re one smart and brilliant girl who can make it up high there :)
Ee Leeng, hmmm…..this girl ‘con’ me to work here… but later compensated by treating me superbly nice and always lend me a listening ear and objective views about things, about people.... and girl (I mean aunty), I appreciate how you’ve always been so encouraging and supportive to me when I’ve been through my really ‘low’ period here… thanks, you’ve been great….and you owe me a proper ‘chit-chat’ date ya :)
Haha….enough of thank you speech…. I just thought I want to write this so that you gals won't continue wondering and to also say that I appreciate you gals.
Time to hit the sack, else I’ll be sacked tomorrow for being late for meeting hahahaha….
Lastly, I just want to say that GIRLS, one thing never change – I’m always here when you need me :) Anything at all, as long as I can do it for you....
True friends are those who will point out your weakness and be true to you…I desire that from you all, so, feel free ya anytime….. :)
CHEERS!!!

Wah... i'm honoured to be featured in your blog. Well...I thank you for your friendship too. You were there for me when I was at my lowest point (remember the time i put up a night at your place??). I truly appreciate your kindness. I may sometimes appear to be harsh and 'brutal', but i definitely always have a soft spot for you. I always cherish the time I have with you in Penang...the spa... and the funny moments there. Here, I would like to say that I would strive to be a better fren to you. Keep up the spirit!!!
Dear aamyy,
It is good that you decide to change for the better (if being quieter is your true self). But true friends don't really mind whether you are loud and funny or quiet and docile. They just enjoy your company and presence.
In fact, your friends will feel worried with sudden changes. They might start speculating whether you have problems and then incessantly "bug" you because they do care for you (or just being nosey).
But penning your thoughts down in a blog is good. At least now they will know.
All the best.
First & foremost, a BIG HUG to you for touching my heart so deeply in the morning. It's great to know that i've been a good friend to you (*so proud*) but most of all i want to thank god for it is by his grace and blessing, you and i have crossed paths so that we may share His word and grow spiritually. Thank you for your messages and encouragement and let's keep the friendship going!! Continue to be who you are whether loud or quiet, haha!!

Your first words to me this morning: You are published!! I was so surprised, pleasantly so... :) I felt very honoured and very touched... We have only known each other for like, 6 months but I feel like I've known you forever... Here's to much, much more to come... :)
And noted, I'll try to stop making you fat... :P When under stress I eat, I can't help it... Especially, when we have a boss like ours... Haha...
P/s: I was really hoping that I'll be able to see these words: "when a writer meets a writer"... But that's ok, I'll write it here myself... *grin*
Pp/s: Btw, what do you mean when you said that we have so much in common? You mean in sizes or generally?? Haha... Just kidding...
I still remembered you always self-praise to make us laugh, and i know that you are doing it just for us. So now, i am happy that you can truly be URSELF....
Thanks guys n gals for all your comments and responses.
I'm thoroughly touched.
To my colleagues, it's so true. It was just 6 MONTHS, and the friendship had flourished. Amazing! Let's together make CFD a better place to be :) and live our lives ABOVE the circumstances...n our bosses :p You guys/gals are great, thanks for everything.
Truelove, I miss those days with you too. You know, you know me inside out and we've been so dear and true to each other. You're truly a gift from God to me, thanks sis!
